Since 1991 the Czech Republic has been concentrating on the problem of remediation of the old environmental damage as well as remediation and prevention of contamination of rock environment and air and water pollution. This field deals with the definition, identification and elimination of environmental damages to achieve acceptable limits for both inhabitants and the natural environment. In this area our company provides:

 

CONTAMINATION INVESTIGATION:

  • examination of a current state of a site – borehole check, initial sampling and measuring, research
  • identification of individual contaminants
  • geological screening – gas metrical and geophysical methods
  • research of saturated and unsaturated zones with the objective to discover the extension of contamination
  • hydrogeological modelling of groundwater flow and transmission of contamination
  • creation of special geological and contamination maps
  • complex monitoring of underground and surface water focused on the observation of particular contaminants including trend assessment

 

RISK ANALYSIS OF THE IMPACT OF HUMAN ACTIVITIES AND OLD ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGES ON THE ENVIRONMENT (RA)

Our company performs risk analyses according to the methodical instruction of the Ministry of the Environment of the CR called “Risk Analysis of the Contaminated Areas”. This instruction specifies basic requirements on the content and form of the analysis. We conduct analyses of dangers resulting from the environmental damages and suggest proper remediation (risk assessment, dose-response relationship assessment, exposure assessment and risks characterization).

 

THE RA INCLUDES:

  • assessment of the level of environmental damages and determination of remedial measures
  • choosing an optimal remedial measure
  • determination of target parameters of the remedial measure
  • assessment of  its effectiveness, etc.

The RA can also include expert surveys on the technical and economic aspects of the solution.

 

REMEDIATION OF THE UNSATURATED ZONE (I.E. REMEDIATION OF THE SOIL AND ROCK ENVIRONMENT):

  • project of remediation including ensuring all the permissions and declarations
  • choosing the most effective remediation method
  • choosing appropriate technologies for decontamination or stabilization
  • choosing the best way of use or elimination of waste
  • management of remediation work in the field
  • optimalization of the course of the work (direct control of processes depending on the contamination)
  • remediation monitoring
  • control and evidence of the achieved limits
  • evaluation of the remediation with regards to financial effectiveness of the project

 

GROUNDWATER REMEDIATION:

  • project of remediation including ensuring all the permissions and statements
  • choosing the most effective remediation method
  • choosing appropriate technologies for decontamination
  • operational applications for cleaning technologies of non-traditional contaminants
  • construction of remediation facilities (boreholes, drainage, barriers, etc.) and creation of functional remediation system
  • using the most effective method of groundwater remediation for a particular contaminants and conditions
  • continuous optimalization of the system operation
  • remediation monitoring
  • control and evidence of the achieved limits
  • evaluation of the remediation with regards to financial effectiveness of the project
